Musical Director

Daniel is a distinguished conductor and impresario known for his directing of evocative and articulate performances. He provides continuo for Bladud Baroque and is Musical Director of The Carolean Consort and Georgian Festival Chorale. Daniel has held posts as Organist and Master of the Choristers at St. Margaret's Church and Central Methodist Church, Blackwood. After graduating, Daniel began his career studying piano under Maria Angel Garcia and organ with Dr Emma Gibbins and Shean Bowers. Awarded the Jennifer Skellett Scholarship he specialised in choral direction under Francis Faux and has taken masterclasses with Eleanor Núñez.

He went on to found Dolce Singers, The Octet, The Chamber Singers and to direct Somerset Choral Society and Corsley Festival Choir. Daniel has been an official repetiteur at the Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod and was awarded Caerphilly County’s Young Composer of the Year. Daniel’s career has developed rapidly and he is in high demand, having worked with many acclaimed artists including Maxim Calver, Matthew Coleridge, Jess Robinson, Victoria Oruwari, Eleonore Sian Cockerham, Brandon Hill Chamber Orchestra, St. Woolos Sinfonia and Bobby Chen.

 

Recent performances have included appearances at the Assembly Rooms and Pump Room, Bath, Downside and Pershore Abbey and at the Cathedrals of Brecon, Clifton and Truro. Highlights include directing Elizabeth II’s ‘Platinum Jubilee Celebration Service’ at Bath Abbey and conducting Bath’s first professional and modern-day performance of ‘Handel’s Solomon’ at Bath Abbey, ‘A Coronation Concert for the City of Bath.’ Daniel is Artistic director of the Bath Recital Artists’ Trust, a passionate advocate for the next generation of musicians and is a member of the Association of British Choral Directors.
